Arizona’s driver’s license and ID card get a makeover.
After nearly a decade of use, Arizona’s driver’s licenses are getting a new look. The new design is not only more aesthetically pleasing, but also incorporates more Arizona-inspired graphics. But the most important improvement to the card is the enhanced security features that will effectively reduce the risk of counterfeiting and fraudulent use.
Available now, the new driver’s license and ID card are made of 100% polycarbonate material that is fused to form a solid structure that is extremely difficult to tamper with. In addition, the material is more durable, making the cards last longer.
The first thing people will notice is that the photos are black and white. This is laser engraved, making it difficult to modify the photos.
Depending on the angle at which the card is held, you can see either a large desert cactus or a pine tree. This feature will help verify the authenticity of the card when it is presented to law enforcement, restaurants, supermarkets and other necessary places.
The new design highlights multiple Arizona locations, which is the result of a new contract. As the previous contract was about to expire, Thales Group was selected as the new supplier to produce the cards because of its ability to provide the latest security features.
The new card is available now and is suitable for tourist ID cards and standard ID cards. People under 21 will be issued a vertical version of the card.
If someone wants to update their current card to the new design, they can apply for a supplementary card and get the new security features. However, the existing card design will remain valid until the expiration date marked on the card.
